Materials and Care

We source our materials internationally, bringing together the finest leather and superior hardware.

Vegetable-tanned Leather
A traditional craft process that is time and labour intensive, it uses plant extracts to produce deep and rich hues that deepens over time with use. The environmental process uses no chemicals and makes it suitable for individuals with certain allergies as well. Comes with a guarantee label, 'Pelle Conciata al Vegetale in Toscana', from the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium.

Full Grain Leather
Leather that is uncorrected with its natural markings, it is the toughest and most durable type of leather.

Bridle Leather
A heavyweight vegetable-tanned leather that is mainly used for bag straps and handles, they are smooth, flexible yet durable. Typically thicker, they are long-lasting and age well with time.

As no chemicals are used in the finishing of vegetable tanned leathers, colours of the finishing of various leathers may rub off over time. Light coloured leather would turn darker with use while dark coloured leather may result in colour transfer onto lighter coloured products.

Use a leather cleaner or conditioner to keep your products nourished and prevent them from drying out, do note that the colour may darken over time. Rub in light coats with a dry cloth, repeating if necessary. Avoid putting huge amounts at a go as it might result in dark patches.

All A.DAN product are handmade with a majority of them made using the traditional saddle-stitch technique. This ensures a stronger and more durable end product that will last you a long time.
