Materials and Care

Leather is an organic material that has its own characteristics and differs from every hide.

Vegetable-tanned Leather: A traditional craft process that uses plant extracts, it gives unique characteristics and changes colour over time with use. This method is environmentally friendly as no chemicals are used. Our vegetable-tanned leather comes with a guarantee label, 'Pelle Conciata al Vegetale in Toscana', from the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium to ensure the highest quality and standards.

Full Grain Leather: Leather that is uncorrected, it might have small scars or imperfections but it is the toughest and most durable type of leather. Our Japanese full grain leather is vegetable tanned as well and comes with a label as proof of its stringent quality.

Bridle Leather: A heavyweight leather, it is vegetable-tanned as well. Mainly used as bag straps and handles, they are smooth, flexible yet durable. Typically thicker, they are long-lasting and age well with time.

Use a leather cleaner or conditioner to keep your products nourished and prevent them from drying out, do note that the colour may darken over time. Rub in light coats with a dry cloth, repeating if necessary. Avoid putting huge amounts at a go as it might result in dark patches.

All goods at A.DAN are handmade with a majority of them made using the traditional saddle-stitch technique. This ensures a stronger and more durable end product that will last you a long time.
